      <image:title>Parent Consultation</image:title>
<image:caption>With over 15 years of experience working with teens and families, I offer consultation for parents of tweens and adolescents. From my work with various agencies including Huckleberry Youth Programs, facilitating a group for parents of teens, to being a high school counselor and of course in my private practice, I have a rich understanding of this time of life and the complicated family dynamics that can emerge. Parenting during teen years requires a slightly different approach than when they were children. We can explore the balance between letting them individuate and also setting boundaries, while communicating that you will always be there for them. No matter how impossible it may seem, there are still ways of feeling connected with your teen.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Frustration due to feeling anxious, depressed, stressed, out of control, going through a life transition or not satisfied with your work or relationship(s) are all great reasons to seek therapy, and things that I can help with. It's also okay not to be able to pinpoint exactly what is going on - but you are sure something is off and you want to work towards being your authentic self and living the life you truly want to. I work with individuals who want to let go of old patterns that no longer serve them, and to gain a better understanding of where those patterns come from, to promote permanent and lasting change. As a trauma therapist, I understand the deep impact that historical trauma has as well as acute trauma happening now or recently. It is vital to a healing journey to be able to work through this, safely and with tools to allow for deeper healing and relief. I work with survivors of trauma, including those that meet criteria for PTSD or cPTSD, or anyone who has experienced a profound loss of control. Brainspotting is phenomenal way to work through this as well. Relationships. We are biologically predisposed to seek connection with others. We are the most invested in the ones we care the most for, so it’s no wonder that intense emotions follow. Luckily, therapy can help you navigate these relationships (intimate partner, parent(s), family, siblings, colleagues, friends) and provide a deeper understanding of what you would like and need from them, and what boundaries to hold. I am invested in attachment work because I see how learned attachment strategies keep us stuck in loops that are not serving us. Therapy is a great way to break these destructive cycles. Our primary relationships growing up have shaped how we relate today. We can explore what is coming up for you now, and also make space for considering the messaging and attachment you experienced growing up. Sometimes we are unaware of how things like emotional neglect, being parentified, witnessing intense fighting, high expectations, walking on eggshells, or feeling overly independent have affected us. The world is also changing quickly and existential concerns such as climate change, collective unconscious anxiety, questions about having a family or keyed-up tension and anxiety can manifest. Therapy is a great space to process this. Talking to someone can help.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Adolescents</image:title>
<image:caption>Due to a lot happening during this developmental period, we can see a lot of joy and thriving, and also at times things that are not ideal; low self-esteem, isolation, depression, anxiety and high-risk behaviors. Adolescents get more pleasure from engaging in risk-taking behaviors than children and adults combined. While this is somewhat “normal” for teens, it also makes sense that we want to make sure they have a good sense of how to make choices, feel self-love and valued. What I hear a from teens is that it just feels good to be able to talk about what’s coming up for them and feel like someone understands. While problematic or worrisome behaviors might bring them into therapy and will be the primary goal, I love working with teens so that we can also zoom out and take a look at how they conceptualize stressors or challenges in general, to be able to impart healthy ways to respond (now and in the future). My approach is authentic and down-to-Earth, with a focus on cultivating our relationship to establish trust. I don’t believe that adolescents are “kids”. They are their own hybrid of child and adult, and this is an important distinction in our work together. I invite adolescents to come as they are, and we can talk about whatever’s on their mind, with space to process and also tangible tools and techniques to walk away with. We can also laugh.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Brainspotting - Brainspotting</image:title>
<image:caption>is a way to find lasting, permanent, positive change and I am thrilled to be a Certified Brainspotting Practitioner. Brainspotting is a neuroscientific approach to psychotherapy that uses the field of vision to locate where a person is holding previous traumas or negative experiences and emotions in their brain and body. Brainspotting has roots in EMDR and incorporates somatic experiencing, relational and insight-oriented therapy. Where you look affects how you feel. Our eyes are directly connected to the limbic system part of our brain, or “mammalian brain”, most frequently linked to emotion. Brainspotting uses music and bilateral brain stimulation to allow for deeper access to the limbic system to access feelings or memories that talk therapy alone can’t reach.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Brainspotting</image:title>
<image:caption>Brainspotting is a valuable tool that can assist in letting go of or processing previous trauma and various emotions, but it is also helpful to get to a more expansive place for yourself; whether it be removing creative blocks, helping you achieve a specific goal, or getting back to the person you used to be or would like to grow into. When the horrific tragedy took place at Sandy Hook resulting in the deaths of small children and others due to gun violence, Brainspotting proved most efficacious in healing and ameliorating symptoms of PTSD in those affected, moreso than EMDR, Somatic Experiencing MNRI and others. A non-exhaustive list of some challenges that I utilize Brainspotting for to allow for deeper client healing include: Trauma Grief and loss Shame Attachment wounding/family stuff Attachment and relationships Creative blocks Achieving a goal Negative self-talk or self-doubt Low self-esteem Feeling stuck Dissociation Repressed memory Anxiety and depression Phobias Life transitions/major decisions Feeling like life is on pause</image:caption>

      <image:title>Family Therapy</image:title>
<image:caption>Similar to couples therapy, family therapy with me will begin as a unit, then I will meet with each family member individually, and then come back together again. This is a very helpful step in terms of points of view and identifying attachment wounding - really just a way to look at where things changed, or where something felt like it shifted in the relationship(s). I always like to say “it’s rarely about the ___________.” Where the focus of family tension or estrangement might be highlighted in one area, often there is more to unpack. I have had the privilege of being trained in Attachment Based Family Therapy by Guy Diamond and have hundreds of hours of experience providing family therapy for varying ages.</image:caption>
